Our main goal at the Equestrian Center is to utilize the equestrian center as a learning experience towards life. We achieve this by comparing experiences in the equestrian center to their own lives at Magnolia Christian.

Our lessons mainly consist of teaching the students how to sit properly, control their horses, and maintain the responsibilities of caring for their horses. We ride predominantly Western style with the option to ride English style.

The students enrolled in the equestrian program are given the opportunity for six hours a week in the equestrian center. During that time, they groom their horses, learn to saddle their horses properly, ride their horse, and then prepare the horses to return to their areas for the night. Once that is done, the students are assigned different barn duties on a rotational basis. While the student is either riding in the riding arena, round-pen, in pasture, or out on trails, they are being guided by instructors on how to handle their horses. Even before a student starts to ride, we teach them how to completely take care of their horse, including: cleaning hooves, any minor doctoring that needs to be done, and grooming.
